In the second chapter, Alice chases the White Rabbit into a long corridor with doors, with one very small one being the one she wishes to go through. A table appears with a bottle labeled "Drink Me" and she does, growing too small and having forgotten the key. To her luck she finds a glass holding a cake spelled out in currants, but in her haste she ate too much and grew to nine feet tall. She begins to worry that because she is so far from her feet, they will rebel and she will have to resort to writing letters to them and sending gifts to appease them. The whole ordeal shakes her up and she begins to cry.
